U.S. Paralympics Unveils Regional Competitions for 2013

U.S. Paralympics, a division of the United States Olympic Committee, today announced that seven regional competitions will take place this spring and summer to offer increased competitive sport opportunities for disabled veterans and disabled members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Competitions are also open to non-military athletes including youth and adults with physical disabilities or visual impairments.

The seven regional competitions, which are partially funded through support from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, will take place across the country spanning from April through June. Each competition features a mix of sports including archery, cycling, powerlifting, rowing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, triathlon and track & field.

Competition registration is completed through each local organizing committee.

In addition to the seven regional competitions, U.S. Paralympics is partnering with Veterans Affairs to expand the Valor Games, an introductory sport competition for veterans and service members with disabilities, to four regions for 2013. The Valor Games were previously only held in Chicago.
