U.S. Masters Swimming, along with partner SmartyPants Vitamins, launched the SmartyPants Vitamins U.S. Masters Swimming Winter Fitness Challenge.
The Winter Fitness Challenge is the first in a series of three events designed for those seeking to improve their fitness through swimming. This 30-minute swim challenge, to be held between Feb. 15-28, includes six-week training plans with workouts for swimmers of all fitness and experience levels.
"Swimming for 30 minutes is a solid fitness goal for someone just getting started with swim training, either as a new swimmer or one who's been away from the pool for a long time," says Dawson Hughes, USMS's CEO.
The SmartyPants Vitamins USMS Fitness Series also includes a 2K Summer Fitness Challenge and a 1-Mile Fall Fitness Challenge. All three events in the series can be completed with a local USMS club, or participants can train for and swim the events on their own.
"As more people seek the widely acknowledged health benefits of swimming, we want to offer programs and events that allow them to set and attain their fitness goals and have fun while getting fit," Hughes adds.
Net entry proceeds from WFC benefit the USMS Swimming Saves Lives Foundation, which serves as a financial and educational resource for programs across the country that provide adult learn-to-swim lessons. The event also offers an additional fundraising component for SSLF. The Summer and Fall Challenges provide an online platform for clubs and individuals to fundraise for their favorite organizations.
Registration for the WFC is now open. Swimmers will receive sample packs from SmartyPants Vitamins, a swim cap with the event logo, and exclusive offers from USMS partners.
