USA Diving Announces Seven Sites to Serve as Podium Centers

USA Diving is pleased to announce it has selected seven sites to serve as USA Diving Podium Centers.

 The Podium Centers are a new initiative as part of the 2013-2016 high performance plan. The intent of the centers is exactly as the name states – to help produce Olympic medalists and put USA Diving on the podium.

 Podium Centers will be based in Austin, Texas; Bloomington, Ind.; Los Angeles, Calif. (USC); Minneapolis, Minn.;  Stanford, Calif.; The Woodlands, Texas; and West Lafayette, Ind.

When selecting the centers, priority was given to programs that have Olympic coaches, have a history of producing world-class international-level athletes and are willing to host regional camps, clinics and educational sessions.

Previously USA Diving had operated a Centralized Training Center and then a National Training Center. Recognizing that there are talented divers all across the country, USA Diving is moving to this new model with Podium Centers to provide more opportunities for more divers rather than putting all resources into one center.

 The centers will be reviewed annually.
