USA Rugby's Regional Cup Tournaments (RCTs) have been announced for 2018. The RCTs are an annual competition for the youth of America to show case their skills, and gain exposure to collegiate rugby, collegiate recruitment, and to the selectors of the High School All American Teams.
The tournament dates and locations for 2018 are as follows:
West Regional Cup Tournament June 9-10, 2018 Denver, CO
Northeast Regional Cup Tournament June 16-17. 2018 Rahway, NJ
Northwest Regional Cup Tournament June 22-23, 2018 Boise, ID
Midwest Regional Cup Tournament June 22-24, 2018 Fishers, IN
South Regional Cup Tournament June 22-24, 2018 Marrietta, GA
The only new location that has been added from last year is Boise, ID which replaces Corvalis, OR.
The locations are not the only things that have changed, the eligibility requirements have also received a facelift. The changes that have been made include:
Tier 1: Must be at least 16 years old by the event date, must not have turned 19 by September1, 2017, must be enrolled in HS during the 2017/18 school year.
Tier 2: Must be at least 14 years old or older by the event date, must not have turned 17 by the tournament date (must be 16 or younger), must be enrolled in High School during the 2017/18 school year. 16 year olds are able to play up or down according to their development as a player.
Tournaments will continue to be a showcase for colleges with a college fair being held at each tournament. Colleges that are interested in attending should go to usarugby.org/rct to learn more.
