NAIA Seeking Hosts for Men’s Volleyball Championships

Looking to bring in some business? Want something that is a little closer on the horizon than five or more years out – without a long lead-up? You’re in luck. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has opened the bid process to host both the 2022 and 2023 NAIA Men’s Volleyball Championship.

It’s a great event, too. The men’s volleyball championship is a five-day event that culminates in the crowning of last team standing as the national champion. The championship attracts 160 total participants within the official team party and approximately 1,500 fans on average, although that can go above 2,000.

Tournament format: The format of the tournament will include three days of pool play (four pools of three teams), with the top team in each pool advancing to a single-elimination tournament. Each team will play one match against the two other teams in its' pool. One match per pool will be conducted on each of Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday, with Thursday being left for tie break scenarios. The top team in each pool will advance to Friday's semifinal matches, while the National Championship final will be played on Saturday.

What NAIA wants from a host facility: The facility shall include all facilities and equipment necessary for volleyball, including standards and nets for one court, adequate spectator seating of 1000, lights, electronic scoreboards, press box area, concession stands, rest rooms, meeting rooms, box office, parking lots, sound systems, signs, etc.

Hotel requirements: NAIA requires a centralized property(s) capable of accommodating several meetings and an opening event for at least 275 people. The average stay is five to six nights.
