USA Water Ski & Wake Sports is pleased to announce that it will host the 2024 IWWF Pan American Wakeboard Championships, presented by Visit Central Florida Sports. The biennial event will be held Oct. 18-20, 2024 at Lake Myrtle Sports Park’s Championship Lake in Auburndale, Fla. It will mark the first time the event has been held in the United States after previously being staged in Argentina, Mexico and Brazil.
“Water sports are part of the DNA of Central Florida’s Polk County,” said Mark Jackson, the Director of Visit Central Florida Sports. “From Dick Pope and Cypress Gardens to the 2022 IWWF World Water Ski Show Tournament, our waters have witnessed more industry firsts, world records and history than anywhere else in the world. We are thrilled to watch more history unfold at the 2024 IWWF Pan American Wakeboard Championships.”
Some of the top wakeboard athletes from North, Central and South America will vie for team and individual medals. Divisions of competition will consist of U14 Boys/Girls, Junior (U18) Men/Women, Masters (Over 30) Men/Women, Veteran (Over 40) Men/Women and Open Men/Women. Athletes are scored on execution, intensity and composition.
The U.S. Wakeboard Team won the overall team gold medal and eight U.S. wakeboard athletes won medals, including three gold, in respective divisions at the 2022 IWWF Pan American Wakeboard Championships in Nova Lima, Brazil.
USA Water Ski & Wake Sports is affiliated with the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (world governing body) and is recognized by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee and Pan-American Sports Organization as the national governing body of organized water skiing and wakeboarding in the United States.
