Dr. Hums has served as a professor of sport administration at the University of Louisville since 1997. She is also an accomplished author of numerous textbooks and articles in sport management. Since 1996, she has served in a variety of volunteer roles with the Paralympic Games including softball field crew assistant, planning committee member, and a support specialist for the IPC in Germany.
She also served as a sports information manager for goalball for the visually impaired. Hums is the co-coordinator of the Athletes and Social Change Forum in conjunction with the Muhammad Ali Center. She earned a doctorate in sport management from The Ohio State University, an MBA in management information systems and MA in sport administration from the University of Iowa, and a bachelor of business administration from the University of Notre Dame.
