Helping students remain active and engaged in sports, even outside of the varsity framework, has lon...
Growing up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sandy attended Shaler Area High School where he lettered in Baseball and Ice Hockey. Upon graduation, he accepted an appointment to the United States Coast Guard Academy as a recruit to both their Baseball and Hockey programs. After one year in the Academy, Sandy transferred to Penn State University where he could study Mechanical Engineering. An unsuccessful tryout with the varsity program led him to discover a new calling. After learning of the Penn State Baseball Club's Intramural League, he became involved and quickly realized the talent pool that existed in Happy Valley.
Sandy received his degree in Mechanical Engineering along with a minor in Business Logistics in August of 2000. He currently makes his home in the Pittsburgh suburb of Mars, PA with his wife (Amanda) and sons (Taggart, Dekker & Raife). When not traversing the country promoting CollClubSports, Sandy spends his time coaching youth hockey and baseball, golfing, playing ice hockey, and cheering on the Nittany Lions.
"It is an honor and a privilege to be involved with the daily operations of this organization. Any means of promoting collegiate club sports is a terrific motivation to have. I know that with everyone’s cooperation and hard work, this organization will continue to grow and be successful."
